The fifth day of action in the World Athletic Championships from Budapest features more gold medal events and the best track and field athletes in the world on Wednesday. All of the events and athletes are preparing for the 2023 Paris Olympic Games here in Budapest to get warmed up for the biggest event in track and field. A few of the events that are moving on from qualifying to the first round are the men’s pole vault, men’s long jump and the women’s javelin. The women’s hammer, triple jump and steeplechase all have their qualifying Wednesday.

One of the major storylines today is Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the men’s 1500 meter race after being dominant for two straight years. However, he was upset last year in Oregon.
Jake Wightman defeated Ingebrigtsen last year in Oregon in this race, with Yared Nuguse, Narve Gilje Nordas, Josh Kerr and several others in the field all looking to be the one to pull off the upset win in the 1500 meter.
The rest of the events on the schedule today are all wide open fields, creating a lot of excitement in particular in the women’s pole vault and the women’s 400 meter finals.
